Villa and surroundings

The surrounding greenery and vineyards are splendid, with apricot trees nearby – and just 4km from the medieval village of Rocca Imperiale, ‘the village of lemons’ is our Bed & Breakfast ‘Villa Sveva’.

Upon an enchanting hill, just a few minutes away from the sea and not far from the largest natural park in Italy, Monte Pollino, there are overwhelming views from the Gulf of Taranto to the Gulf of Corigliano.
 

Our B & B Villa Sveva is an ideal base for day trips - whether you want to be cultural, culinary, or sporty, etc. on the go, there is a wide range of activities and attractions available.


The village of lemons, Rocca Imperiale, the imponsing castle built by the Hohenstaufen Emperor Frederick II, has been awarded by the magazine GEO-SEASON as one of the 10 most beautiful villages in Italy.
The village is situated on 199 m s.l.m on the coast of the Ionian Sea. The beach (sometimes stones, partly sand) covers approximately 7 km away.

You can take a walk on the "Strada dei Limoni - The Way of the lemons" . This path leads through numerous lemon trees plantations. Not only lemons grow excellent in this region. Orange and tangerine trees, olive groves, vegetables and vines, from which especially near namely in Nova Siri and little fruit rich wines are produced. The variety of products and proximity to the sea are reflected in the rich, varied, light and original cuisine of the region again.

Other attractions Matera for its old town that partly from cave dwellings, the Sassi exists. The Sassi are since 1993 a UNESCO World Heritage.
In October 2014 Matera was elected to the Italian European Capital of Culture of 2019.
